The Scoloderus Conspiracy is the drama of conflict, the illusion of control, and the power of family.

After I completed my doctorate, I worked as a research psychologist with the U.S. Army. I spent my time working with the men and women serving as soldiers at Fort Riley, Kansas.

I left that job to join a management consulting group in Washington, DC and work directly with the Department of the Army "top brass," the Army Research Institute, and the people at Walter Reed. I studied leadership and the characteristics of very good leaders.

More about Blankinship

The Army is one of the very best places to study this topic. Army leaders ask the ultimate sacrifice of those they lead and poor leadership can have tragic consequences. If you want to truly understand the most powerful force in the universe, study the military and you will learn that the world’s most fearless people can confront death everyday and move forward without hesitation; unless their family is in peril. A soldier’s family is more precious than anything else in her or his life.

The Scoloderus Conspiracy reminds us of the power of family and the invisible bonds that reach deeply into who we are and what we value.
